BUILD 2015 will take place in April in San Francisco

Registration for Microsoft's very own BUILD 2015 conference started a few hours ago, but the event was sold out in no less than 45 minutes, which is pretty much a brand new record for the Redmond-based tech giant.

The very same thing happened last year, when all tickets were sold in 1 hour, but soon after the first registration process started, Microsoft decided to launch a second session and allow more people to register.

At this point, it's not yet clear if Microsoft wants to do this once again this year, but the company has already created a waiting list on the official BUILD 2015 website and anyone interested can join it to be informed when registration could reopen.

This year, the BUILD developer conference takes place between April 29 and May 1 in San Francisco. A full-price ticket costs $2,095 (€1,875), but students can opt for a discounted version available for $995 (€890).

Microsoft hasn't yet announced this year's agenda for BUILD, but it's believed that the conference can be used to reveal more news on Windows 10. The company could thus use the event to ship a developer build of the operating system but also to disclose more information, including the official release date of the operating system and pricing details after the first year of free upgrades.

At this point, rumor has it that Windows 10 could debut in the fall of 2015, so the developer preview release in late April pretty much makes sense.
