Microsoft has recently announced its quarterly earnings, blaming the collapse of the PC industry for a new disappointing performance of both Windows 8 and Surface tablets.

As far as analysts are concerned, all these financial reports do nothing more than to reveal Microsoft’s “comedy of errors,” as the company had to settle with a $900 million (€680 million) inventory write down for the Surface RT.

"Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong," Citi analyst Walter Pritchard was quoted as saying by CNBC.

"The whole reorg is around getting them aligned to where the market is going, which is clearly away from the PC and toward mobility and the cloud," Brent Thill of UBS added, pointing to Microsoft’s internal reorganization.

As part of the restructuring plan, Microsoft intends to bring more devices to the market, including not only updates for Surface RT and Pro, but also a smartwatch and new smaller tablets.
