Microsoft’s brand new MSN for Windows 8 is currently down for no apparent reason. Most of the news stories published on the main page are currently unavailable and users are provided with a “Check back soon” message.

“An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below,” the error message reads.

Of course, the Microsoft team is probably looking into the problem right now, so it should be back online very soon, but the reason for the outage is still unknown.

The new MSN was released together with Windows 8 in late October and uses the same design as the refreshed operating system for a faster and more fluid experience.

Update: MSN for Windows 8 is back online and all stories now seem to be available to Internet Explorer 10 users.
