With the Apple Watch quickly becoming a hit, Microsoft is rushing to update all of its apps to provide support for the new device launched by the Cupertino-based rival, as it wants everyone to benefit from quick access to its services.

After PowerPoint, which received an update bringing support for Apple Watch last week, Skype is now getting the same treatment, with a new version of the iPhone client boasting such functionality for all Apple customers.

Basically, thanks to this update, Apple Watch owners can easily reply to messages either with voice or with pre-defined messages. Emoticons and the possibility of starting a new Skype chat are also offered as part of the new version.

Microsoft hasn't yet announced the update, but the new version of Skype for iPhone, which is now being delivered to devices across the world (or available as a manual download from the store), makes the Apple Watch even more helpful for those who want to stay in touch with their contacts.

Microsoft's increased focus on Apple Watch is not at all surprising given the growing interest in the new wearable device, but it might upset some fanboys who hoped to get similar functionality on their Microsoft gadgets.

For instance, Microsoft Band, Redmond's smart wristband, doesn't offer Skype support, but you can configure the device to receive notifications whenever someone sends you a message or calls you.

Needless to say, Apple Watch is already becoming a best-seller in its niche, so if you want these new features on your device, go ahead and download Skype for iPhone right now.
