The Surface Pro officially went on sale on Saturday, but Microsoft is apparently getting ready to roll out the first software update for the tablet.

It appears that the pen delivered with every Surface Pro doesn’t offer support for a number of applications, with many users complaining about it on Twitter.

Microsoft quickly acknowledged the issue and confirmed for ZDNet.com that a software update to make the digital pen work in some other programs was under development.

“The Surface pen does work with Photoshop, which runs on Surface Pro, though advanced features such as pressure sensitivity and eraser functionality may not be available at this time. Microsoft is working with the necessary partners to make advanced features of the Surface pen available across a number of applications in the near future,” a Microsoft spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Microsoft is yet to confirm whether the new update will be delivered together with the Patch Tuesday fixes due in a few hours, so we’ll update this article when we have more information.
