Internet Explorer continues to lead the browser market, while popular apps such as Firefox and Google Chrome are still trailing way behind.

That’s what some new stats provided by market researcher Net Applications reveal, indicating that Internet Explorer, including here all versions currently available for download, is now being used by 57.79 percent of computers worldwide.

While IE’s domination is not at all surprising given the fact that Microsoft offers it as the default Windows browser, the difference between its own market share and the one of other rival apps is quite shocking.

For example, Firefox is said to be running on 18.58 percent of computers worldwide, while Google Chrome is installed on only 15.98 percent of desktop PCs.

In case you’re wondering, IE8 is still number one with 21.39 percent of the market, followed by IE10 and Chrome 29 with 19.45 percent and 12.82 percent, respectively.
