While some companies and authorities across the world decide to go for free software such as OpenOffice and Linux, others stick to Microsoft's solutions for day-to-day activities.

Belgian financial company KBC has announced that Office 365 would be offered to all its employees as part of a new partnership with Microsoft. The firm says that it picked Office because of its easy to use communication and collaboration features.

“The ease of use, familiar tools and enterprise readiness were key factors in our decision,” said Frank Demonie, senior VP and chief technology officer at KBC. “By using a single, well-integrated platform, KBC employees will be able to more easily reach out to each other, connect and work in virtual teams. This will allow us to provide faster and better service to our customers.”

KBC will gradually offer Office 365 to its employees, as the company has already started a pilot program to determine how fast it could actually implement the built-in productivity tools in its software portfolio.
