Opening new stores across the United States is a priority for the Redmond-based technology giant Microsoft that plans to reach new consumers by making its products available in several new locations.

A new store in downtown Portland is very likely to open soon, the Portland Business Journal writes adding that Microsoft has leased space at the Pioneer Place mall.

Microsoft wants to expand its retail network to more than 75 stores over the next few years, so the company recently decided to convert some of its pop-up stores to permanent locations.

The software firm, however, refuses to comment on its plans and said that more information on new stores would be released in the upcoming months.

"While we're exploring several locations for future Microsoft retail stores, we have no specific new store locations to share at this time,” a company spokesperson was quoted as saying by The Seattle Times.
