The Windows 8.1 build that got leaked today confirms that Microsoft won’t be bringing Facebook and Flickr support in the Photos app, even though users have been asking for such a feature ever since the Preview version went live.

While no details were provided on this, Microsoft confirmed in a short statement a few weeks ago that support for third-party photo sharing services had been removed from the app because the Windows Store already had lots of programs that could replace it.

“Now there are many apps in the store that offer ways to view photos on other services and soon there will even be a Facebook app from Facebook,” a Microsoft employee wrote on the company’s community forums in early July.

The good news is that Facebook is also working on its own Metro client to give users the power to access their profiles from the Modern UI, but no details are available right now on the release date.
