Only 7 days left until the launch of Windows 8.1 and all eyes are now on Microsoft and the last round of updates it’s working on before the OS hits general availability (GA).

Word is that Microsoft is preparing several improvements, including some new options and plenty of bug fixes, which are expected to be delivered to Windows 8.1 RTM machines sometime next week.

As for Windows 8.1, the update will be available for Windows 8 users straight from the Store, with the company to advertise it in the spotlight section. Windows 8.1 will be offered as a free download, with the Windows Store to take care of both downloading and installation.

In case you’re running Windows XP, Vista, or 7, you have no other choice than to purchase a full license. Pricing for the core version starts at $119.99 (€90) and goes all the way up to $199.99 (€150).
