It improves the update mechanism, protects user settings

Opera rolled out the first update of their browser for 2013. It is a snapshot for build 12.13 of the application, currently available for all supported platforms (Windows, Mac and Linux).

The developer focused on improving the performance with websites that have plenty of storage data, such as Twitter, by optimizing preference and web storage file saves. On the same note, users should no longer have trouble with storage corruption for sites and extensions upon exit.

Additional changes touch on the update mechanism, which should be more reliable in this release and make the transition to a newer version of Opera much smoother.

Also new in this release is protection for the settings. This is done in order to prevent third-party applications from changing user settings without consent. The entire change log is available on this page.
