PS3 Media Server has been refreshed with a new release that rounds up the build number to 1.90.

One of the biggest changes is that the project is now under Sourceforge’s umbrella because Google Code will no longer offer support for updates starting next year.

As far as the application itself is concerned, the developer announced a slew of improvements for FFMpeg (Video, Web Audio, and Web Video) renderers, as well as general components and functions.

The changes relating to FFmpeg streaming engine increase its functionality and importance in the package as now there is support for lossless video remixing (if supported by renderer), for AC-3 and DTS audio tracks remixing, and for external SRT and SSA/ASS subtitles.

PS3 Media Server 1.90 brings to the table an extended number of renderer profiles, improves the quality in the case of Xbox 360, and offers support for Sony Blu-ray Player. The full list of changes is available on this page.
