Today is Patch Tuesday, so in addition to Windows security updates, Microsoft is also rolling out an updated version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

In essence a malware-removal app, this particular software solution was designed to lend a hand to users trying to get rid of specific infections from their Windows computers.

While no details have been provided on version 5.3, it most likely adds detection and cleaning capabilities for specific forms of malware, so you’re strongly recommended to get it as soon as possible if you think that your computer might be infected.

Microsoft will also launch security patches for other products later today, so Malicious Software Removal Tool will be soon delivered via the built-in Windows Update feature as well.
