Pidgin for Windows just has been updated to version 2.10.2 bringing to the table a slew of modifications designed to improve the functionality of the application.

There are plenty of changes referring to the various protocols supported. In the case of AIM and ICQ the developer fixed a possible crash when receiving an unexpected message from the server. Also, signing in with usernames containing periods and underscores is now possible.

With MSN possible crashes caused by not validating incoming messages as UTF-8 have been eliminated and there is support for the new protocol version MSNP18. Additionally, the issue with leaving messages to offline contacts should no longer appear.

In the new version of the application the “autoaccept” plugin no longer resets the preference for unknown buddies to "Auto Reject" in certain cases.
