Third-party Start buttons are still in the spotlight, even though Microsoft has already confirmed that it plans to bring back the feature in the next Windows 8.1 release.

Pokki is one of the Start Menus that got updated lately, with the official release notes revealing that version 0.263.13.325 brings several performance and stability improvements.

Pokki is at this point one of the most popular apps of its kind on the market, not only thanks to its great feature package, but also because of the freeware license.

And still, third-party Start Menu apps are expected to remain successful even after the launch of Windows 8.1, as the built-in Start button would only get users to the Start screen.

What’s more, the Softies are expected to implement an option to let consumers completely disable the Start button, just in case they like the new Windows 8 UI.
