It’s a well-known fact that lots of organizations out there prefer to switch to Windows 7 instead of Windows 8, so it’s not such a big surprise that London Irish Rugby Club switched from its XP configuration to a new one running the very latest Microsoft operating system with a Start menu.

In addition to replacing Windows XP machines with new ones running Windows 7, the club also decided to adopt other Microsoft products such as Office 365 and Dynamics CRM, explaining that cloud services could really help them get things done faster.

How exactly? The club’s operations manager says that everything can be done easier because information can be accessed from basically every location with Internet access.

“For example our ticket guys, who previously didn’t have a connection to the older server, are now in the position where they can access shared drives and documents from any location, This is streets ahead of where we were before, where we had to use a data transfer website, which was clunky to use,” Operations Manager at London Irish Rugby Club Richard Watton told V3.

So, why not Windows 8? The club says that Windows 7 was the first operating system they looked at, and given the fact that it easily meets all their requirements, no other software was necessary.

“Windows 8 was not something we looked at, as we just wanted to move on a constant update cycle, so we’re up to date with the market,” Watton explained.

In case you’re wondering, the club replaced most of its desktops with HP 650 ProBooks, HP ProDesk 400, and ProDesk 600 devices for the majority of staff.
