Skype is undoubtedly the number one VoIP platform in the world, so Microsoft uses every single occasion to brag about its service, especially as the company prepares to kill Windows Live Messenger.

The Redmond-based technology titan says that Skype is now being used to talk more than 2 billion minutes over the Internet every single day.

“2 billion minutes is more than 33 million hours of people singing, laughing, joking and staying in touch. That means 1,388,000 days of togetherness which make up more than 3,805 years of sharing or nearly 38 centuries of time spent on Skype in one day,” Microsoft said in a statement.

Of course, Skype is now playing a key role in Microsoft’s long-term strategy, especially because the company is planning to retire Windows Live Messenger and move all users to the VoIP platform.
