Skype officially rolled out the Video Messaging tool for Windows client, promising to introduce the same feature in the Windows 8 version in the coming weeks.

Basically, the new Video Messaging option is a quick way to send short clips to your contacts, even when they are offline.

Just like a standard text message, the clip is automatically submitted to selected contacts, so they can watch it the next time they go online.

At this point, Skype Video Messaging is only available in the desktop version of the Skype client, but Microsoft promises to make it available in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 flavors very soon.

A brand new beta version has also been released, bringing not only this particular option, but also specific performance and stability improvements. More details are available here.
