Microsoft has just launched an update for the Metro version of Skype that brings new options, as well as bug fixes addressing a number of issues found in the previous releases.

According to the official release notes, the new version of Skype brings options to synchronize favorites across devices, so you now have the same list of favorite contacts on all connected computers, laptops, and tablets running Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1.

At the same time, the application comes with some changes for favorites and recent conversations, which now take up less space on the screen, leaving more space for the contact list.

The feature lineup remains unchanged, so with Skype you can chat with your contacts without leaving the Modern UI, with the application also supporting snap view to use it on tablets alongside other programs.

“Chat, hear their voice, or get together face to face all within the comfort of one app. Snap Skype alongside other apps to get more done or play a game together while you chat. Share everyday things and special moments – files, photos, or even a video message,” Microsoft said in a short description of the app.

Overall, this is clearly a helpful update for everyone running the app, so download Skype for Windows 8.1 to get all these improvements on your device as well.
