Microsoft has just released a new version of its popular VoIP Skype client for Windows 8, providing users of its latest operating system with some new features and performance enhancements.

The update is currently being delivered to all Windows 8 builds and brings greater control over your contacts with the option to block specific IDs, as well as performance improvements and other general fixes.

While the release notes are pretty vague, the updated Skype client is expected to run a bit faster and to boast improved stability, regardless of whether you’re running Windows 8 on a desktop or on a tablet.

As usual, the new version is automatically delivered to all computers via the integrated Windows Store, so simply launch it and check the “Updates” section for more information.
