Social apps are taking over the Windows Store, even though both Facebook and YouTube are yet to release their official Metro clients for Windows 8.

At this point, Facebook Now, YouTube Now and Instagram Now are the top three free apps in the Store, as users turn to third-party apps to access their online profiles and to watch clips from the Modern UI.

Pac Man has dropped to the fourth position, while SoulCraft and Khan Academy come next on the fifth and the sixth position, respectively.

Facebook is currently developing its own Windows 8 client to allow consumers to use the social network without leaving the Modern UI, but no information regarding the release date has been provided. Still, expect the app to be here by the official launch of Windows 8.1.
