Users are still experiencing issues with some Windows updates released this year

Some of the updates released by Microsoft this year as part of its monthly Patch Tuesday got stuck in an infinite installation loop, with thousands of users affected by the issue.

Even though the company addressed most of these complaints a long time ago, it turns out that many users are still experiencing similar problems, with some updates still locked in the same installation loop several months after release.

Posts on Microsoft’s Community forums confirm that multiple updates are being installed repeatedly on either Windows XP or Windows 7. Here is what one user is reporting on the Community forums:

“Windows Update continually installs KB2802618. I have downloaded the update manually and run it – several times – and each time it says it was successful; it then does not appear in updates. I have run the Windows Update troubleshooter, and after asking for Admin permissions, the troubleshooter ‘Fixed’ issues. Still no joy.”
