The company has created a new subcategory in the Store called "Great offers on apps"

Microsoft has quietly rolled out a new software subcategory in the Windows Store called “Great offers on apps” that allows you to buy some of the best apps for Windows 8 at special prices.

“Check out these offers and save some money. You’ll find great apps, subscriptions and premium services for a reduce price or, in some cases, for free! The fine print: offers valid through January 31, 2013 (while supplies last), in the Windows Store, in the United States only and made available by the app publishers, not Microsoft,” the description reads.

This means that only those living in the United States could get the apps at these special prices, but let’s just hope that Microsoft decides to make this apparently-temporary change a permanent and global feature.

At this point, the subcategory offers a total of six different apps, all available for free, including Disney’s utterly-popular “Where’s My Water?” game.
