Bring back the Start menu on Windows 8 with this free app

Microsoft already announced that a future Windows 8.1 update will bring back the Start menu, but that doesn't necessarily mean that third-party apps that come with such a feature will lose all their users.

Start Menu Reviver is one of the apps that recently got a major redesign and thanks to an update released today, any bugs that you might have found in the previous builds should no longer be there.

Start Menu Reviver 2.0.0.80 comes with the same modern design that is more or less inspired by Microsoft's mockup presented at the BUILD developer conference in April, and combines traditional elements included in the standard Start menu with new options such as live tiles.

The application offers support for both Windows 8 and 8.1, and although no dedicated compatibility is available for Windows 8.1 U Update, everything seems to be working just fine on this OS version as well.

Overall, this new version of the app should be installed by everyone running the app already, so download Start Menu Reviver 2.0.0.80 right now to see what it brings new.

Start Menu Reviver is the closest thing that you'll ever get to Microsoft's own Start menu coming out later this year, so if you still want to make the modern Windows look a bit more familiar, at least on the desktop, this is the app you should try.
