In case Microsoft’s own Windows 8.1 Preview Start button isn’t exactly your cup of tea, you’re probably looking for a third-party app capable to restore the familiar Start Menu on your new computer.
Start Menu X is one of the programs that could do that with ease, and it comprises options to replace the built-in Start button and launch a Start Menu.
It does lack some configuration options that you usually find in third-party Start Menu apps, but it actually packs the essential settings for customizing the look and feel of the Start button.
Start Menu X is fully compatible with Windows 8.1 Preview, but some issues and performance problems might still be experienced, as Microsoft’s new OS is still in testing stage.
