Microsoft is bringing back the Start menu at some point in the future, most likely in Windows 9, but many users out there are still relying on third-party apps to make their desktops look more familiar.

Start8 is one of the first and the most popular apps in this particular category and Stardock, the company behind the program, has rolled out today a new update to make sure that everything works as it should on users’ computers.

Start8 1.45 adds new SAS activation and trial code, while maintaining support for both Windows 8 and 8.1 in either 32- or 64-bit builds.

Start8 is an app that comes with a design similar to the Windows 7 Start menu, so if you do decide to install this one for enhanced productivity, there’s no doubt that the familiar appearance really comes in handy.

On the other hand, the app is not free and you need to pay a small price to use it, so some might very well give up on Start8 and pick one of the many freeware alternatives out there.

Overall, this update is clearly good news for many users, so go ahead and download Start8 for Windows 8 to make your desktop look more like the one in Windows 7.
