Windows 8.1 Preview will bring back the Start button, so some third-party developers that created apps to implement such a feature in Windows 8 have decided to stay away from the upcoming OS release.

StartIsBack 2.1.1, a new version of the software that reached the web today, won’t work on Windows 8.1 Preview and Windows Server 2012 R2 at launch because the two operating systems already feature a Start button. A future version will, however, work on Windows 8.1.

However, the new version comes with several bug fixes, so an overall improved experience should now be provided to adopters of Microsoft’s new Windows 8.

It continues to get along with both 32- and 64-bit versions of the operating system, but it’ll stop working once you make the switch to the new Windows 8.1 Preview.
