Microsoft has already presented Windows 8.1 Update at the BUILD 2014 developer conference last week, so plenty of users rushed to install it from MSDN in order to get the latest improvements included in the operating system.

Of course, software developers are also tweaking their apps to provide full compatibility with Windows 8.1 Update, and StartIsBack is one of the first programs to get improved in this regard.

StartIsBack 1.6 thus comes with full support for Windows 8.1 Update, so if you’ve already deployed this new version of the operating system, the app is supposed to work flawlessly.

At the same time, the new version also comes with automatic download of updates, so the application will now get new versions in background, using BITS service, and only then ask you if you’d like to deploy the fresh release.

What’s more, the default Start button now has a shine effect and can be used in the bottom-left corner once again. The developing team says that improved XP style for the “All Programs” menu option is also part of the package, and so is the revised multi-monitor tool that provides enhanced usability with hot corners.

Plenty of bugs are also part of the new versions, so in case you’ve experienced issues with the new build, you should download StartIsBack 1.6 for Windows 8.1 right now.
