The ice bucket challenge has gone viral and the most known people in the tech industry have joined it already, including Microsoft’s former CEO Steve Ballmer.

Nominated by Spencer Hawes, Ballmer uploaded the video with him dumping ice cold water over his head not only to show his support for the anti-ALS fight, but also to nominate the next three persons that should accept the same challenge.

Even though many expected Ballmer to challenge developers, developers, developers for the ice bucket challenge, he actually nominated Hal Wright, LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers, and TV football analyst Rick Neuheisel.

Ballmer has recently completed the purchase of LA Clippers NBA basketball team, so he has every reason in the world to be happy, even though he spent no less than $2 billion (€1.5 billion) to make his dream of owning an NBA team come true.

Ballmer is currently the largest individual Microsoft shareholder and has a net worth of approximately $20 billion (€15 billion). He retired from the Redmond-based tech giant in February this year, being replaced by former cloud boss Satya Nadella.

Even though he retired from his executive role, Steve Ballmer is now a member of Microsoft’s board and will remain so for many years, as he has already expressed his intention to remain within the company for as long as possible.
