Labels will be displayed on the right of icons

The screenshot you see here shows not only Spartan browser and the new taskbar that could be part of Windows 10 when the new OS hits the shelves but also a more subtle change that Microsoft might be doing on the desktop of its new platform.

As our reader Muhammad Bilal pointed out, desktop icon labels are now placed to the right of the icons and not under them, as is the case with the default configuration of Windows right now.

Windows 10 Technical Preview doesn’t come with such functionality right now and the screenshot that we have here proves that an option in this regard could be indeed implemented in a future update or, at least, in the final version of Windows 10.

While this is really a subtle change, it could actually come in very handy to those who try to keep things organized on the desktop and certainly adds to the existing customization options that will be offered with Windows 10.

A similar feature is already available in Mac OS X, but Microsoft can’t obviously be accused of copying Apple’s platform, and such a feature really makes sense on the desktop of every PC.

At this point, it’s not yet clear when this feature is expected to be introduced in Windows 10, but don’t be too surprised if the January Technical Preview scheduled to see daylight later this month has it.

Hat tips to Muhammad Bilal for sending this in!
