Microsoft has revealed in a short tweet that its new Surface tablets are really selling like hotcakes, explaining that both the RT and the Pro models are close to selling out.

The tech giant also called for developers to start creating more Windows 8 apps, suggesting that this increasing demand for Surface tablets is an important opportunity for software creators worldwide.

“Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 are close to selling out. All those buyers are gonna need apps. Your move: developer.microsoft.com,” the company tweeted.

The 128 GB Surface Pro 2 indeed got sold out during the weekend, but this particular model is again back in stock, so interested consumers can basically order any version they want from the revamped Surface lineup. Shipments will officially begin on October 22, four days after the launch of Windows 8.1.
