Fixing a defective Surface Pro is a tough challenge, says iFixit

Just as we told you recently, the experts over at iFixit have torn down the Surface Pro to find out how difficult it is to repair the device, rating it 1 for repairability.

In case you’re wondering, that’s the lowest score a device can get in iFixit’s rankings, so fixing a broken Surface Pro is a really tough challenge.

According to the tablet repairability list released by iFixit a couple of hours ago, the Surface Pro is the only device with just one point, as it has tons of adhesive that holds everything in place and opening the unit risks shearing the display cables.

The good thing, on the other hand, is that the battery is not soldered to the motherboard.

The Surface RT got 4 points, so it’s easier to fix than the iPad 2, 3, 4 and mini. The RT got extra points thanks to the fact that the battery is easily replaceable, but lost some because it’s very difficult to open the device and the LCD is fused to the front glass.
