14 DAY TRIAL // If you’re one of those many people who think that Windows 8 is nothing more than a flop, you might be wrong, Lenovo believes, as Microsoft’s modern platform still has enough time to succeed.
Lenovo, who still hopes to see many education institutes making the move to Windows 8 in the near future, says that people really exaggerate when they claim that Windows is dead, pointing out that all devices running this OS version are more powerful than Apple’s and Samsung’s.
“The death of Windows is greatly exaggerated. It’s still the vast majority of the business in education. It’s the matter of choosing a device that's right for what you want it to do,” Sam Morris, worldwide education executive at Lenovo told IT Pro.
“If it is primarily content delivery devices [schools want] there are lighter devices out there from a capability standpoint. The web as a platform is also a more viable proposition. People like WeVideo are bringing video editing to the browser. Those kinds of things are great.”
Microsoft has pretty much the same opinion, so the company continues the struggle to attract more users by preparing a major update for Windows 8.1, as well as the release of Windows 9 in early 2015.
