The official Windows 8 Nook application has received a major update today that brings support for the newly launched Windows 8.1, as well as several other important features.

The new version comes with large and small live tile sizes that take full advantage of the improvements that Microsoft made to the Windows 8.1 Start screen, as well as with enhanced import support for ePub and PDF files from either the PC or SkyDrive accounts.

You can now type anywhere in the app to search the library or search the NOOK shop for books, magazines, or newspapers, while the portrait mode support has been significantly improved for smaller tablets.

Of course, several other bug fixes are also part of the new release, so you can download the official Nook app for Windows 8 right now to get all these goodies.
