Peter Klein has recently announced his decision to leave Microsoft, so the tech giant has already started the search for a new chief financial officer.

According to a report published by BusinessWeek, Tami Reller, the current chief financial officer of the Windows unit, and Amy Hood, holding the same position in the business division, are front-runners for the vacant position.

In addition, Rik van der Kooi, chief operating officer for the Online Services unit, is also in the race for the next Microsoft chief financial officer, even though no official details are available for the time being.

Tami Reller is one of the high-profile executives currently struggling to make Windows 8 successful, as both her and Julie Larson-Green have been appointed chiefs of the Windows unit after Steven Sinofsky’s departure in November.
