Third-party flat icons seem to fit Windows 10 better

The new icon pack that Microsoft introduced in Windows 10 is going through a really hard time, with plenty of users worldwide describing them as a bad joke, given the fact that they’re part of an operating system redesigned from the ground up.

While Microsoft itself has promised to do something about this and most likely bring a new icon pack before Windows 10 reaches RTM, here’s something that’s at least worth a try.

This so-called Windows 9 icon pack is based on the same idea as Microsoft’s new Windows 10 icons: complete flatness, while also reminding of the previous design used in old versions of Windows, including Windows 7.

Fortunately, all of us can download and use this Windows 9 icon pack, but setting them up obviously takes a while, so in case you’re on Windows 10, you’d better wait a little bit longer to find out what the new design prepared by Microsoft looks like.

The company has said, through the voice of Windows insider boss Gabe Aul, that the current design is just an early UI, so new icons should be there in the operating system before the final version is out.

In the meantime, the rage against icons continues across the world, so the faster the new icons arrive, the less frustration is mounting among users.
