Chart shows that Windows XP is losing users at a really slow pace

Windows XP will go dark on April 8, 2014, but even though only 94 days are left until Microsoft stops releasing updates and security patches for this OS version, XP is losing users at a really slow pace.

This chart provided by StatCounter proves that Windows XP remains the world’s second most popular operating system with a market share of 19.79 percent, down less than 1 percent from November 2013’s 20.53 percent figures.

While there’s no doubt that Microsoft will go on with its plans to retire the OS in April, this chart is the living proof that Redmond’s expectations to cut its market share to 13 percent by the retirement date won’t become reality.

On the other hand, Windows XP users will be so many after April 8 that most software companies would probably continue to offer support for this particular OS version, which means that anti-virus solutions, firewalls, media players, and so on will still be available for those who want to stick to XP.
