Microsoft is updating many Windows 8.1 built-in apps, in an attempt to provide users with a superior experience without the need for closing the Modern UI.

The Mail app is one of the tools that will be revamped in 8.1, as Microsoft has improved the existing UI with an app bar and a so-called folders column.

In addition, Microsoft is now offering drag and drop support, which is pretty useful for easier managing of your inbox, as well as folder pinning to quickly pin a specific directory for quicker access.

Last but not least, the Mail app will offer options to open messages in new windows, as well as better integration with Outlook.com, including newsletters support and social updates to stay up to date with Facebook contacts and other social networks.
