14 DAY TRIAL // Everybody knows that Windows 7 is currently the world's number one desktop operating system, but there are some people, including Microsofties, who hope that things could change once Windows 10 becomes available.
Unfortunately, it's not all just milk and honey for Windows 10, and the chart we have here, which was provided by Net Applications, is living proof that Windows 7 will continue to rule the desktop world for longer than Microsoft would ever want.
As you can see for yourselves by clicking the graph, Windows 7 has increased its market share a lot in the last 10 months, and this ascending trend is very likely to continue in the coming months.
Truth is, it will most likely slow down as we get closer to Windows 10's release date, but Windows 7 keeps getting users even though we're pretty sure that Microsoft would want all of them to choose Windows 8 (and then Windows 10).
Windows 7 started the year with a market share of 55.92 percent, but last month it reached 58.04 percent, enough to keep it the clear leader of the desktop OS business.
Windows 7 has increased its market share by nearly 8 percentage points in the last 10 months, mostly because users disappointed with Windows 8 decided to downgrade, whereas some of those who upgraded from Windows XP tried to avoid the modern OS and go for a more familiar option.
Support for Windows 7 will end in January 2020, so Microsoft had better prepare for another Windows XP moment in less than 10 years from now.
