Extreme tweaks make 8.1 look like the old XP

Statistics show that at least 18 percent of the desktop computers worldwide are still running Windows XP right now, despite the fact that support ended in April 2014, and many people claim that this is because XP runs really well on old PCs.

Needless to say, many refused to upgrade to a newer version because of the look of modern Windows, with live tiles and the flat UI, so convincing them to get off XP is more difficult than initially believed.

But what if Windows 8.1 could look just like Windows XP? Because yes, that’s possible, and the photo included in this article is living proof that, with extreme tweaking, Windows 8.1 and pretty much any other Windows version can look like XP.

DeviantArt user AJXP66 managed to do this after installing several third-party apps and skins, including WindowBlinds and StartIsBack, so beginners might actually have a hard time doing this.

In the meantime, some hope to see Microsoft launching a Windows XP Second Edition, but that’s very unlikely to happen as the company is fully focused on Windows 10 and ways to improve the desktop for PC users.

Windows 10 is projected to launch in the fall of 2015, so chances are that you’ll never see another Windows XP ever again, not only because it wouldn’t make much sense for Microsoft but also because the number needs to push customers to buy new PCs by any means.
