NORAD has just launched a dedicated Windows 8 application for its online Santa tracking service, allowing adopters of Microsoft’s latest OS to place a countdown to Christmas on their Start Screens.

The application is available for free in the Windows Store and offers support for 32- and 64-bit versions of the new operating system, but also for ARM devices. These include Windows RT tablets, such as Microsoft’s very own Surface RT device.

The feature list isn’t that impressive, but the app is in essence a countdown to Christmas with some additional goodies, so in case you wish to find out more info about it, check out this link.

“NORAD Tracks Santa is ready to begin the countdown to December 24th. Join us as we begin the countdown to Santa’s journey. Watch Santa traverse the globe in real-time on Christmas Eve as he distributes gifts to all the world’s children! Learn about how and why NORAD tracks Santa. Watch videos about Santa’s journey and hear special holiday greetings from each of our Commands,” the official product description reads.
