Cerulean Studios recently released a new beta version of its Trillian 5.4 client, bringing not only a number of bug fixes, but also new options and enhanced support for specific protocols.

Facebook chat support has been revised and should no longer display junk characters in chat message of international users, while Outlook.com IMAP support is also offered to users.

“As more and more of our customers adopt our Trillian Server in-house business solution, we’re also making sure all of our client software can properly connect to an in-house server. Trillian 5.4 accomplishes this for the Windows side, making it possible to connect to servers with self-signed TLS certificates and more,” the developing team explained.

The Twitter engine has also received updates, so you can now see usernames right in your stream. In addition, fixes for direct messaging and for retweets are also included.
