A new Twitter client is now available in the Windows Store

Twitter is still working on its official app for Windows 8 workstations, so users have no other option than to use one of the many third-party clients available in the Store right now.

Those looking for a Twitter client, on the other hand, should pick the app very carefully, as a so-called Twitter Pro program might trick you into believing that it’s the official client.

While it seems to be more like a basic interface to browse Twitter from the Metro UI, it also costs $2.49 (€1.90), which should be the first sign that this isn’t the real deal. Twitter will most likely offer its client at absolutely no cost, just like it now happens with TweetDeck on all platforms.

We’re pretty sure that it won’t take more than a couple of days to see the app removed from the Store or, at least, to change its name but, in the meantime, make sure you check the publisher and the feature list twice before paying for an app.
