VLC for Windows 8.1 is very likely to be released in the next few days, as the application has finally passed certification and the developing team is now giving the final touches to the UI and the feature lineup.

A short post on the Kickstarter page, first noticed by McAkins Online, reveals that VLC for WinRT: Release 1 passed certification, the VideoLAN also added that “we need to polish a few things but we’ll publish soon: the major crashes seem to be gone!”

A Metro port of VLC media player was announced more than one year and a half ago, with the developing team raising the necessary funds for the project as part of a Kickstarter campaign.

The application will first land in the Windows Store on x86 and x64 devices, but a Windows RT flavor will also be provided at a later time.
