The Modern version of VLC is yet to reach the Windows Store but, according to the developers behind the project, the application is very likely to be released for download on Monday.

VideoLAN said in a short tweet that “We plan to release on the store on Monday,” which means that developers have finally managed to deal with all bugs and issues that prevented the app from reaching the store and can now release it to users.

As said several times before, VLC will initially be launched for x86 and x64 versions of Windows 8.1, but VideoLAN is also working on a Windows RT port that should see daylight soon after that.

VLC for Windows 8.1 is the fruit of a Kickstarter fundraising campaign that took place in late 2012, only a couple of months after Microsoft officially debuted the Windows 8 modern operating system.

At that time, VideoLAN promised to release the app in just a few months, but due to some problems experienced after submitting the app to the store, the parent company had no other choice than to delay the launch.

The application will obviously be offered free of charge for all users and will come with a rich feature package that would include support for the majority of video formats out there.
