VLC for Windows 8 was officially launched last week, but since a number of bugs have already been discovered, the developing team moved very fast to launch an update and address some of the reported issues.

A new version of the application was officially launched this morning, so if you’re already running VLC on Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, make sure you are getting this fresh build as soon as possible.

According to the official release notes published in the store, in this update the team fixed numerous bugs, including the crash on start, which means that a more reliable experience should be noticed on both desktop computers and tablets.

If you’re running Windows 8.1 and you haven’t changed the default configuration, the update might be already there on your computer; otherwise, you need to download VLC Metro manually to see what’s new.

VideoLAN has promised that a new update would be released next week, so more fixes are on their way in order to improve the overall performance of the app and fix bugs. Developers said that audio performance and subtitles are the two main priorities right now, so in case you’ve come across some bugs in these two areas, they might be fixed in just a few days.
