VLC for Windows 8 was officially launched last week, so plenty of users rushed to give it a try and see how one of the most popular media players on the market works in the Modern UI.

VideoLAN recently revealed that its application recorded a total of 38,000 downloads in only three days on the market, which does nothing more than to confirm that many users are still looking for a powerful media player for their Windows 8 computers.

Today, VideoLAN also launched a new version of the application that comes to address some of the bugs found in the previous builds and improve the overall performance on Windows 8.

“After the first beta release a couple of days ago, a second build fixing the most important crashes has been submitted to the store, for certification. It should notably fix the crash on start, on some machines, but other stability issues, on the music side too!” VideoLAN president Jean-Baptiste Kempf said today.

What’s more, the development team promised to continue work on VLC for Windows 8, with a new version of the application scheduled to be launched next week when more bug fixes are likely to be rolled out for Microsoft’s modern operating system.
