VNC just updated to version 5.0.3 on all supported platforms, Windows, Mac and Linux. It integrates one new feature for all of them as well as specific improvements and fixes.

Starting this build, the mouse cursor snaps to a corner of the host computer’s desktop when it exits VNC Viewer screen. It will locate itself within a specific distance from the corner, which is configurable through the “PointerCornerSnapThreshold” parameter. This comes in handy if you want to trigger hotspots in the newer operating systems, such as Windows and Mac OS X 10.8.

The new revision displays connection notification messages in Windows 8 straight on the Start screen and in the desktop app and Desktop Duplication replaces VNC Mirror Driver as the optimal screen capture mechanism in most circumstances. Additionally, authentication passwords are now created using the vncpasswd utility.
