Viber is one of the apps that have received a major update on Windows 8.1 today, so customers on this modern operating system are recommended to deploy the new version as soon as possible.

So, what exactly is new in this fresh release of Viber for Windows 8.1?

First of all, the app comes with a new and improved design that’s supposed to make it easier to use on both touch and non-touch Windows 8.1 devices. At the same time, when running in snap mode, users are also allowed to send stickers and emoticons and not just standard messages.

The home screen now displays online contacts as well, while the image transfer option also supports the PNG format. In addition, notification badges also appear in snap mode, and searching contacts is fast, regardless of the device.

“We worked closely with Microsoft to provide the best possible Viber experience on Windows 8. Viber for Windows 8 and the latest versions of the Viber application for smartphones have been designed to allow you to use Viber on multiple devices, so you can always use the app that’s right for you, whether at home, in school, at the office, or on the go,” the company said.

Viber for Windows 8.1 works on both desktops and tablets running this particular OS version and also supports Windows RT, which is the operating system developed by Microsoft for devices powered by ARM chips, including its very own Surface RT.
