The Redmond-based technology company has just rolled out a video to reveal some behind the scenes moments from the development process of the new Surface tablet.

While some may say that Microsoft is copying Apple even when it comes to making of videos, the software giant is actually using these clips to explain the reasons behind some key elements, such as the magnesium case.

Microsoft had apparently been working on the Surface since the summer of 2009, when the company also started the Windows 8 project.

Since engineers already knew that Windows 8 would focus especially on touch capabilities, developing a device that would benefit from all of these “innovations.”

So here you are, the Surface in all its glory, starting from $499 (€380).
